Ohioan boots game-winner as Michigan State beats Ohio State

Welcome to the spotlight, Michael Geiger.

The Ohio native drilled a 41-yard field goal to give No. 9 Michigan State a 17-14 upset of third-ranked Ohio State in Columbus Saturday. Then he went to work celebrating:

Michigan State pulled the stunner despite using two backup quarterbacks in a rotation after longtime starter Connor Cook was ruled out of the game before kickoff. The Spartans' defense was the star of the game, holding the Buckeyes to just 132 total yards, which is the lowest total for any Urban Meyer team.

The Spartans now control their own destiny to make the Big Ten Championship Game by virtue of beating both Michigan and Ohio State in dramatic fashion.

They toppled the Buckeyes and Wolverines despite leading neither in actual game time.

The Michigan State over Michigan victory came on a botched punt snap by the Wolverines.
