Ole Miss' Chad Kelly restrained in high school football brawl (Video)

Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly had to be restrained when a brawl broke out in a high school football game involving his younger brother.

When a brawl broke out at a high school football game in Buffalo, N.Y., Friday night, Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly had to be restrained. The reason? His younger brother, Casey Kelly, was at the bottom of it.

As first reported by Tom Martin of News 4 Buffalo, the fight broke out in a game between Timon and St. Joseph’s High School. When quarterback Casey Kelly took a late hit out of bounds, the benches cleared and Chad Kelly ran onto the field.

Luckily for Kelly and Ole Miss fans everywhere, the quarterback was restrained before he could get involved in the fight.

Though Kelly, who was able to attend his younger brother’s game with Ole Miss on a bye week, ran to the opposing bench’s sideline, he was later pushed back to his own sideline before anything escalated.

The game was called in the second quarter by Buffalo police, and luckily no arrests or injuries were reported.

Casey Kelly will graduate from high school in 2019, but currently has no collegiate offers. His older brother Chad Kelly was dismissed from the Clemson football program in 2014 for “detrimental conduct.”

He’s spent the last two seasons playing for the Rebels, posting a 65.1 completion percentage for 4,042 yards, 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in his first season with the team.

So far this season, Kelly has completed 66.1 percent of his passes, throwing for 13 touchdowns and four interceptions through five games. Ole Miss is currently 3-2.

It remains to be seen if Kelly’s involvement in this incident will draw any punitive action from the NCAA, but it seems unlikely at this point since there were no injuries and no punches thrown on Chad Kelly’s part.
