Ole Miss Football: Are the Rebels in Alabama's Head?
Ole Miss has defeated Alabama in two consecutive years. Are they getting in the heads of the Crimson Tide?
Alabama has dominated the football rivalry with Ole Miss historically. The Crimson Tide leads the all-time series 47-11-2. Ole Miss won for only the second time ever in Tuscaloosa last year. Before this two game winning streak by Ole Miss, Alabama had won 10 straight games in the series.
The bottom line is Alabama has been leaps and bounds better than Ole Miss. However, Hugh Freeze has brought a new mentality to Ole Miss where the Rebels fear no one, including the almighty Nick Saban and Alabama.
Coach Nick Saban approaches every game by not getting too high or too low. He treats every game with the same importance. But there are a few things that have come out this week showing Ole Miss may be getting in his head.
Last year, Saban overthought his QB situation by starting Cooper Bateman instead of sticking with Jake Coker. Now, Coker eventually took over for Bateman but it showed Saban going outside of his tendencies in the Ole Miss game.
In his weekly Monday press conference, Saban hinted at anxiety for the Ole Miss game last year
That has not been the only thing to come out this week suggesting Alabama making the Ole Miss game a big deal.
Alabama has taped pictures of Ole Miss players in their weight room as a motivational tactic this week.
The ‘revenge’ word was thrown out a lot last year prior to the Ole Miss game in Tuscaloosa. It didn’t work out for the Crimson Tide.
Will ‘Revenge Part II’ work out for Alabama? That remains to be seen.
What is clear is Ole Miss is not just another game on the schedule for Alabama anymore.
It can even be said that Ole Miss is in Alabama’s head.
