Ole Miss Football: Georgia is a Swing Game
Ole Miss is at a crossroads with a 1-2 record. In order to have a good season a win versus Georgia is vital. A loss and the season could spiral out of control.
Ole Miss football is sitting at a crossroads. The season could go two ways. Ole Miss could beat Georgia on Saturday and get on a roll the rest of the season. The Rebels could also lose and start 1-3 and things could go hay wire the rest of the way.
The college football playoff hopes are all but gone.
The SEC West hopes are almost gone. Ole Miss will need some help from Alabama to have any chance to win the west.
For the time being, let’s put all those goals on hold. It is time for Ole Miss to just win a football game. It won’t be easy. Georgia is 3-0 and they are finding ways to win albeit against shaky competition.
So what is the difference between Ole Miss being 2-2 or 1-3 after next week you ask? Let me lay it out for you:
With a win against Georgia: The Rebels will probably take care of Memphis easily and go into the bye week before heading to Arkansas and LSU in good shape and a clear mind. One would think they could win both of those games on the road. A win and Ole Miss is likely going 10-2 or 9-3 and they will have a very good season.
With a loss against Georgia: Ole Miss limps into the Memphis game and likely a half-full Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Rebels will likely have their heads down and try to squeak out a win against the Tigers. A 2-3 record going into Arkansas and LSU would be a daunting task and it would become more likely the Rebels go 7-5 or 6-6 to finish the season.
It will be critical for Coach Freeze and staff to rally the troops and get the team ready to play versus a very good Georgia team because there is still a lot to play for this season.
