Oregon named top 10 tortured fanbase

How tortured is the Oregon fan base? Well, two national championship losses in five years is a difficult pill to swallow.

In their rankings of the most tortured fan bases, Lost Letterman ranked the Ducks as the No. 10 most tortured fan base in college football.

Here's what the guys at Lost Letterman had to say about Oregon's tortured fan base:

"The Ducks have been the class of the Pac-12 over the last seven or eight seasons, but a series of unfortunate events have hindered them from scoring a national championship. Their most infamous gut-wrenching moment came during the 2011 BCS National Championship Game against Auburn when Michael Dyer, who appeared to have been tackled after a short gain, got up and burst for a game-altering run with two minutes left and the score tied.

Disappointment followed in the 2012 and ‘13 seasons with crushing losses to Stanford that torpedoed title hopes, and of course, the unexpected beating Oregon took from underdog Ohio State in the College Football Playoff title game. Every time the window has seemed wide open for Oregon to win a national title, it has abruptly closed."
