Oregon State introduces AD Todd Stansbury
The Oregon State Beavers have formally announced the hiring of new athletic director Todd Stansbury.
Stansbury, formerly the AD at Central Florida, was the executive associate AD at Oregon State from 2003-2012.
“When this opportunity presented itself I was extremely intrigued, but I was doing some exciting things at Central Florida so I had to kind of balance my obvious attraction for Oregon State and all it stands for and leaving behind some very, very exciting projects,” Stansbury said, according to Steve Mims of The Register-Guard. “At the end of the day, you can’t always pick your spots, the timing isn’t always going to be good.”
Stansbury wasn't exactly looking for a new gig, but thought that coming home to OSU was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
“One thing that really intrigued me about Oregon State is the fact they have a great stable of coaches,” he said, according to Mims. “There are a number of programs coming off phenomenal seasons. ... I was part of the architecture with Bob in setting the foundation and I’m very familiar with it. I look forward to building off of the foundation that Bob built and trying to continue that success and put Oregon State where it belongs, which is at the top of the Pac-12.”
Stansbury replaces his former boss, Bob De Carolis, who served as the University's AD for the past 13 years.
