OU Football Recruiting: Prized Wide Receiver Shuns Sooners for TCU
OU football recruiting for next season has been on the high road most of the fall, but the road took a U-turn on Thursday.
Four-star wide receiver Jalen Reagor decommited from the Sooners and turned his sights further south, verbally committing to TCU.
It had been rumored for over a month that Reagor might flip his commitment. It is not the first time he has done so. The Dallas Morning News reported that the 5-foot, 11-inch, 182-pound receiver originally committed to Texas Tech last December. He later backed out of that commitment, electing to go with Oklahoma in March.
Reagor was one of the 20 or so official recruiting visits the Sooners hosted the weekend of the Ohio State game. The Sooners were soundly beaten in that game, but Reagor declared at the time that he was “100 percent committed” to Oklahoma.
So in less than a year, Reagor, who hails from Waxahachie, Texas, outside of Dallas, has committed to three different Big 12 programs. He said in a tweet that he wanted to stay closer to home. In addition, one of his high school teammates is also committed to the Horned Frogs and another is already a part of the program.
Reagor is the 37th-best wide receiver in the 2017 national recruiting class, according to Rivals.com.
Rivals still has the Sooners ranked as the third-best 2017 recruiting class, despite the change of plans by Reagor. Oklahoma has 21 commitments for next season, with 15 of the 21 rated as four stars.
The Sooners have two other four-star receivers as verbal commits to the 2017 class: CeeDee Lamb and Charleston Rambo, both out of Texas.
