Following the first few weeks of play, Arizona Football has a bit of good news, as ESPN rates Brandon Dawkins as third-best Pac-12 QB in latest power rankings.

Despite the doom and gloom that appears to be Arizona’s depleted depth chart, redshirt sophomore quarterback, Brandon Dawkins stands bright as a star for the Wildcats to start the season.

A slew of injuries has certainly been in part the reason Arizona Football has stumbled out of the gate. However, despite another heart-wrenching loss for the program this past Saturday, the Wildcats can at least smile moving forward after Dawkins the stellar play thus far.

This season, the redshirt sophomore has thrown for over 600 yards and three touchdowns, and just one interception. Dawkins is also completing nearly 62% of his passes.

These stats don’t include the 391 rushing yards and seven touchdowns he as added for the Wildcats.

Brandon’s brilliant play against the then 9th ranked Washington Huskies certainly earned him a bit of notoriety from the sports analysts and pundits alike at ESPN. On Tuesday, he was announced as the third best QB in the conference power rankings this week.

Dawkins’ tantalizing play and superb athleticism helped the Wildcats this one nearly pull off the improbable upset. Additionally, he could potentially be vital to Arizona’s success for the remainder of the season.

It will be interesting to see how things transpire and what head coach Rich Rodriguez chooses to do once Anu Solomon becomes healthy.

The debate can certainly be made that Dawkins has earned it, and deserves his chance. There is no secret Arizona has many questions in the backfield going into the UCLA game. Plus, Dawkins’ mobility will be needed in Rodriguez’s run-friendly offense especially because of the lack of experienced running backs.

Just take a look at what he did against a stout Huskies defense.

At Zona Zealots, we certainly don’t envy Rich Rod as he has some tough choices to make. We are glad to see Brandon being recognized for stepping-up and his Hard Edge. Bear Down, Brandon, and Bear Down Arizona!
