The Northwestern Wildcats became bowl eligible on Saturday after defeating Nebraska 30-28 for their sixth victory of the season.

To put the icing on the cake, they had two players honored by the conference. Senior defensive end Dean Lowry was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and quarterback Clayton Thorson was named Freshman of the Week.

Lowry set a school record with six tackles for loss, including two sacks, and totaled 10 tackles and one pass breakup. Thorson won the award for the second time this season after accounting for 303 total yards and two touchdowns in Northwestern’s win at Nebraska.
