Patterson's plan for a fifth option at ailing CB position won't fly

Injuries have forced TCU coach Gary Patterson to move two safeties to linebacker and mix-and-match elsewhere to piece together the best personnel to fill his 4-2-5 scheme.

Stretched thin entering Saturday's Big 12 opener at Texas Tech, Patterson has four players ready to go at cornerback. And if any of those options should fail or -- knock on wood -- get injured, Patterson has a plan for a fifth.

"I'm five," Patterson deadpanned following Wednesday's practice

That's probably not going to fly. With any luck, and the Frogs haven't had much, his rotation of four will be enough. Sophomore Torrance Moseley, who took over for starter Ranthony Texada after he suffered a season-ending knee injury last week against SMU, will get his second career start. Sophomore Nick Orr, senior Corry O'Meally and freshman Julius Lewis will also be in the rotation, according to the Star-Telegram
