Penn beats Cornell 34-21 for share of 17th Ivy title

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Alek Torgersen threw two touchdowns and ran for a third as Penn beat Cornell 34-21 for a share of the Ivy League title on Saturday.

Penn claimed a share of its 17th Ivy title - its first since the 2012 season - along with Dartmouth and Harvard.

Torgersen finished with 195 yards passing for the Quakers (7-3, 6-1 Ivy League). Brian Schoenauer ran for 118 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Justin Watson had 133 yards receiving and scored twice.

Torgersen threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Watson in the first quarter and ran 3-yards for another score early in the second to help lift Penn to a 27-7 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Torgersen found Watson again for a 12-yard score, extending the Quakers' lead to 34-7 with 7:22 left in the third quarter.

Robert Somborn had 361 yards passing and two touchdowns for the Big Red (1-9, 1-6). He also ran for score.
