Penn State kicker Joey Julius levels Michigan return man

Penn State Nittany Lions kicker Joey Julius is back and delivering big hits on Saturday against the Michigan Wolverines.

Even though the Penn State Nittany Lions were expected to lose handily to the Michigan Wolverines, players weren’t going to go down without a fight, including the team’s kicker.

Penn State kicker Joey Julius has quickly made a name for himself in the Big Ten. Julius is a monster as far as kickers go at 5’10” and 259 pounds. In the season opener, he even leveled a Kent State player on a kickoff.

On Saturday against Michigan, Julius was back at it again with another big hit. After kicking the ball off to Michigan, Julius sprinted downfield and laid a nice hit on Michigan return man Jourdan Lewis. You can check out the big hit in the Vine below.

Unfortunately for Penn State, their kicker laying out someone was probably the only memorable highlight from the game. The Wolverines dominated throughout, taking a 28-0 lead into halftime before continuing to pour it on in the second half.

While the season might not be going how Penn State expected it to, Julius is quickly becoming a college football legend. Hefty kickers have always been a thing in college football, but few have had the fearlessness at the position that Julius has had. Hopefully we will see a few more big hits from the Nittany Lions kicker before the season is over.

Julius will have another chance for a big hit next week when Penn State takes on Minnesota.
