Pocic buoys strong rushing attack versus Mississippi State

With inexperienced quarterback Brandon Harris and a deep stable of backs, LSU figures to be somewhat of a running team in 2015.

The offensive line features two young guard prospects in William Clapp and Maea Teuhema. Josh Boutte is a fixture at guard, and tackles Vadal Alexander and Jerald Hawkins are both talented tackles.

The glue of any offensive line sits at center. Not only is the center the heartbeat of the line, but he is the one making all of the calls at the line of scrimmage. The position is also generally a hub of leadership.

LSU center Ethan Pocic demonstrated versus Mississippi State why he's an incredibly valuable part of Les Miles' team.

He was named as the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his efforts last Saturday night. The Illinois native had 16 knockdown blocks, and anchored a unit which did not allow a sack.

Offensively, the Tigers rushed for 266 yards with a 5.7 yards-per-carry average.

With a green signal-caller behind center, it's got to make Miles feel fortunate in having an experienced option such as Pocic competing at center.
