Punt returner costs Clemson a touchdown by dropping the ball too early

Oh man. Oh this is not good.
In the midst of a mighty struggle game against unranked Troy, No. 2 Clemson seemed to find its pace thanks to a ridiculous punt return by excellently-named Tigers wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud.
But.

After cutting up the gut, slipping a tackle and losing a shoe on the way to the end zone, McCloud did a thing you never do: drop the ball before the end zone.
After a long gathering of the minds by officials, it was ruled that McCloud did indeed release the ball before crossing the plane.
Troy was given the ball and a touchback, officially stamping the play as one the most ridiculous brain farts since DeSean Jackson's titanic bungle.
