Purdue AD: Hazell is 'the right guy,' will remain coach
Purdue football is on its way to a fourth consecutive losing season, but there is no coaching change in the works.
Director of athletics Morgan Burke made that announcement on the Big Ten Network on Thursday, confirming earlier reports that Darrell Hazell would be retained despite a record of 6-27 since the start of the 2013 season.
Calling Hazell "the right guy" for the job, Burke said the program and the coach are taking the long view.
"At the end of the day, if you're building the right thing, you have to stick with the plan. If there's any confusion about who the guy is who's going to lead the Boilermakers onto the field in 2016, let's dispel that."
The Boilermakers play at Northwestern this weekend and also have games remaining at Iowa and at home against Indiana.
