QB Adams on being pulled from Utah game: 'I would have pulled myself, too'

Published Sep. 28, 2015 6:44 p.m. ET

After going 2-of-7 for 26 yards and throwing a touchdown against Utah, head coach Mark Helfrich decided to pull QB Vernon Adams Jr. from Oregon's 62-20 loss to the Utes.

Of the decision, Adams said that he agreed with the move and would have done the same thing.

"I got pulled because I wasn't making the throws I should be making," Adams said. "I would have pulled myself, too, if I was the coach."

Adams is playing with a broken right index finger, though he didn't blame the injury for his performance.

"My finger is broken, but I felt all right. I played through it. I thought I could play through it," Adams said.

Adams says that he needs to be a lot better going forward and needs to make the throws required of him.

"I've to to make those throws, you know, and I wasn't making them," Adams said. "I don't know. ... I've just got to do better."
