Quinn Ewers' towed car fueling laughs ahead of Texas-Alabama

AUSTIN, Texas — It's a very serious week here, with No. 1 Alabama coming to town to play Texas on Saturday (12 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app). But that doesn't mean the Longhorns can't have some fun at the expense of starting quarterback Quinn Ewers.
In his first college football game, the redshirt freshman went 16-of-24 for 225 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and led Texas to a 52-10 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. But after the game, he went back to the parking garage only to find out his car wasn't there.
Ewers was asked about the situation on Monday, but didn't go into much detail. He said he parked in the Manor Garage, but as senior defensive lineman Keondre Coburn said, players are supposed to park in the Brazos Garage.
"He's still getting used to it around here," Coburn said of Ewers, who transferred to Texas from Ohio State this offseason. "I'll make sure I tell him next time."
Ewers has an NIL deal with Aston Martin and also has a Corvette, but wouldn't disclose which car was the towing victim. He has paid the ticket, though.
"Everybody's gotta pay that," Ewers said. "I'm a regular student, at the end of the day."
"You know, that's tough," linebacker DeMarvion Overshown said. "See, I'm one of the lucky ones because I tell people all the time it's gonna take them all day to try to tow my truck. So I'm lucky, I can get there in time. UT Parking, when it comes to tickets and towing, they don't care who you are."
Saturday's game is the first meeting between these teams since the 2009 national championship game. Colt McCoy got hurt and the Crimson Tide won, giving Nick Saban his first title at Alabama.
Since then, the programs have gone in completely opposite directions: the Tide have won six national championships and the Longhorns have had five losing seasons.
So with plenty on the line this weekend, maybe Ewers should do what running back Bijan Robinson does on game day.
"I get dropped off," Robinson said.
