RB Josh Adams breaks Notre Dame record set in 'the Rudy game'

Lost in the aftermath of Notre Dame's last-second loss to Stanford on Saturday was an interesting nugget from the sports information department.

Josh Adams’ rushing total tonight is a Notre Dame freshman record, topping the 148 yards by Jerome Heavens on Nov. 8, 1975, against Georgia Tech in 'the Rudy game.'

On the off chance you didn't know, "Rudy" is Daniel Ruettiger, a walk-on who gained fame when his story was told by the movie "Rudy," which was released in 1993.

A true freshman from Warrington, Pa., Adams ran for 168 yards on 18 carries while starting in place of the injured C.J. Prosise.

Adams finished the regular season second on the team with 757 yards rushing.

Prosise had 1,032.
