Report: 2016 signee Alton Robinson arrested on robbery charge

Published Feb. 16, 2016 5:49 p.m. ET

Via a report from KSAT12, Texas A&M 2016 signee Alton Robinson has been arrested and charged for robbery.

Robinson -- a 3-star defensive end recruit from San Antonio -- was arrested at Judson High School on Tuesday. His ex-girlfriend filed a criminal complaint after Robinson allegedly hid in some bushes near her home -- before approaching her and taking her purse. Robinson then ran away -- dropping the purse -- but keeping her cellphone.

This incident certainly adds to what's been a tumultuous offseason for the Texas A&M program. Robinson has long been considered one of the top prospects in the greater San Antonio area. Although a bit undersized for the position, he relies upon quickness and athleticism to get after opposing quarterbacks.

Currently, there's no word on whether Robinson's ultimate status with Texas A&M will change.
