Report: Coker believes Ole Miss would lose a rematch game

Had senior quarterback Jacob Coker started for Alabama against Ole Miss on Sept. 19, the Crimson Tide may have not suffered its only loss of the season. Unfortunately for the Tide, Nick Saban and the coaching staff made an unexpected move and opened the game with sophomore Cooper Bateman.

Coker rallied the Tide in the second half, but the comeback attempt failed just short of earning Alabama the improbable victory. According to CBS Sports, Coker clearly believes a rematch would not go the Rebels' way.

“They wouldn't want to play us again,” Coker said. “I think everybody here wishes that [a rematch] could happen.”

“They're a good team,” Coker said of Ole Miss, “but we shouldn't have played the way we played.”

What Coker is alluding to is the five turnovers surrendered by Alabama to Ole Miss. The Rebels did not turn the ball over a single time in the game.

Would things really turn out differently if the two teams met on the field again? We likely won't know unless the two meet in the college football playoff, and the chances of that are slim. However, if it does happen, there's no way a healthy Coker misses any snaps under center for the Tide.
