The Everett Golson Sweepstakes are officially underway. On Thursday, the former Notre Dame quarterback announced that he would be transferring to a different school for his final year of eligibility. He will be eligible to play immediately due to the NCAA’s graduate transfer rules.

Georgia and South Carolina, two schools rumored as possible destinations early on, will reportedly get a look from the Myrtle Beach native. According to Clint Brewster of 247Sports, he plans to visit the Gamecocks and Bulldogs in the beginning of next week.

Both teams could stand to benefit greatly next season from the addition of a sound signal-caller such as Golson.

Should he decide to take his talents to one of these SEC teams, there is one issue standing in the way. The school will have to receive a waiver from the conference due to his academic misconduct issues that cost him a season of football at Notre Dame.
