Report: Ex-Boise State DT arrested after allegedly biting off part of teammate's ear

Former Boise State defensive tackle Dereck Boles, who was dismissed from the team in late February for a violation of team rules, allegedly was in a physical altercation with an ex-teammate that led to Boles biting that player on the ear and tearing a portion of it off.

Boles was arrested May 9 in Florida after a warrant was issued in Ada County, Idaho, according to the Idaho Statesman. The redshirt freshman had been charged with felony mayhem after the Feb. 12 incident, and the Statesman cited a source that said the alleged victim is a current Broncos player.

The details of Boles’ case were reported one day after two Boise State football players were expelled from the university and another was suspended from the school for a year in the wake of a sexual assault investigation. All three of those players were redshirt freshmen as well.
