Via a report from FootballScoop, LSU running backs coach/recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson is heavily engaged in the talks to become the head football coach at UTSA.

He's thought to be going up against Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer in order to replace former head coach Larry Coker.

Losing Wilson could be a significant blow to LSU -- particularly when it comes to recruiting. It's no secret Wilson is fantastic in that capacity.

Aside from being a Louisiana native, he's also had prior coaching experience at multiple high schools within the greater New Orleans area. As such, he's built considerable relationships all across the area.

Wilson's also done a fantastic job of coaching up the deep stable of backs LSU has had to its disposal. During his time with LSU, he's coached the likes of Leonard Fournette, Stevan Ridley, Alfred Blue, and Jeremy Hill.
