Louisville cornerbacks coach Terrell Buckley is leaving the Cardinals program to become the safeties coach at Mississippi State, according to a report by the Louisville Courier-Journal on Thursday.

Per the Courier-Journal:

U of L cornerbacks coach Terrell Buckley confirmed to The Courier-Journal Thursday afternoon that he has been hired to coach safeties at Mississippi State. Buckley, a former star corner at Florida State and in the NFL, is a native of Pascagoula, Miss.

Buckley, a former Florida State star cornerback who played 14 seasons in the NFL, joined head coach Bobby Petrino’s staff in 2014 and will replace Tony Hughes, who left Mississippi State to become the head coach at Jackson State.

Buckley is the second Louisville coach to leave this offseason. Earlier in the week Cardinals safeties coach Greg Brown bolted to become the cornerbacks coach at Missouri.

This season Louisville finished 8-5 and ranked 51st in the FBS in pass defense as it allowed 212.5 yards per game.
