Report: LSU to name Ed Orgeron next head coach

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

LSU will name interim Ed Orgeron its new head coach, Ross Dellenger of The Advocate reports.

Houston coach Tom Herman, the other finalist for the job, informed LSU late Saturday night that he was leaning toward taking the job at Texas despite a $6 million offer, according to report. The Longhorns fired Charlie Strong on Saturday morning after a second straight 5–7 season.

Orgeron, 55, took over as interim coach of the Tigers after Les Miles was fired in late September after a crushing loss to Auburn. He led LSU to a 5–2 record.
