Report: Mendenhall may take several assistants with him to Virginia
With any coaching change comes a trickle-down effect of lower staffing positions. Bronco Mendenhall's move to Virginia was an unexpected, and it's not known whether or not the BYU staff was aware of the imminent change.
Mendenhall has a close working relationship with his BYU assistants, and it would make sense for him to try to bring over as much of his staff as possible to Virginia.
"There have been some members who have been added to my staff. Interestingly enough, I don't think this is going to be a long process,” Mendenhall said, adding that he will oversee the Cavs' defense. “When you are very clear about what your goals, priorities and standards are, some are attracted to those and some aren't. I have a very select group, many of which are with me now. There could be a large number of coaches that come with me from BYU. That doesn't mean that is exclusively where they will come from."
Mendenhall won 99 games in 11 seasons in Provo.
