Report: Missouri's DB depth takes a hit as two players transfer from team

Published Jul. 21, 2015 8:48 p.m. ET

The Missouri Tigers received word Tuesday that two reserve defensive backs intend to transfer from the program, according to the St. Louis Dispatch. Senior cornerback David Johnson and junior safety Chaston Ward were both confirmed as the players that intend to leave.

Johnson has already graduated and can seek the ability to transfer and play immediately if he so chooses.

Neither player has started a game for Missouri after both coming to Mizzou as three-star recruits.

While losing two players in the same position group can be devastating, the Tigers are well equipped to handle their departures, as the team has 13 defensive backs currently on a roster expected to have a very talented starting corp of secondary players.
