Report: Shane Beamer to join Smart's staff at Georgia

Former Virginia Tech associate head coach/running backs coach Shane Beamer has been added to Kirby Smart’s staff at Georgia, according to a report by ESPN’s Chris Low.

Beamer, the 38-year old son of recently retired Hokies legendary coach, Frank Beamer, is expected to coach the Bulldogs tight ends and special teamers.

Beamer has coached in Blacksburg since 2011 and is a former Virginia Tech wide receiver. Beamer’s previous coaching gigs include stops at Mississippi State as a cornebacks and running backs coach and South Carolina where his duties ranged from outside linebackers coach to cornerbacks coach to special teams coordinator.
