Richmond tops Fordham 52-7 for 13th straight home-opener win
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Kevin Johnson ran for two touchdowns, passed for two more and Richmond won its 13th straight home opener with a commanding 52-7 defeat of Fordham Saturday night.
Johnson connected on 14 of 21 passes for 273 yards and TD throws of 75 yards to Dejon Brissett and 9 yards to Cortrelle Simpson. Johnson also rushed for scores of 7 and 8 yards, with the four touchdowns a career best. Brissett finished with a career-high 173 yards on four catches for the Spiders (1-1).
Deontez Thompson picked up 84 yards on 11 carries with a 51-yard TD.
Fordham was outgained 585 yards total offense to 188. The Rams finished with minus-3 yards rushing, held to negative yards on the ground for the second straight game, and are 0-2 for the first time since the 2009 season.
Luke Medlock went 17 for 32 for 125 yards with three interceptions.
