Riley on 2-3 start: 'We just have to do better'

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have lost three of their first five games of the 2015 season. Expectations in Lincoln are quite different than they were in Corvallis so Mike Riley is facing a lot of tough questions from media.

On Monday during his normally scheduled press conference he had this to say when asked about the public reaction to his team's slow start:

“Well I can understand (fans) being nervous.  We have the people that care the most and the greatest fans in the world, so obviously they’re going to have feelings about this and certainly where we are; I understand that, totally, I get it.  What we have to do is play better and win some games and then go from there.  That’s the nature of this thing and I get it.  Most of the time I think people are involved in any way because they care, and that’s the beauty of it.  I wouldn’t want to trade that at all.  We just have to do better.”

The good news for Nebraska fans is that the team has lost all of their games by a combined 8 points and had the lead at the end of each game. The bad news is the team has to find a way to finish games with the hardest stretch of the schedule looming.

Up next is the wounded Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday in Lincoln.
