Royce Freeman, DeForest Buckner named to CFB Top 100
Sports on Earth recently put out its rankings of the top 100 players in college football for the 2015 season. Unsurprisingly, two Oregon Ducks found their way on the list.
Defensive end DeForest Buckner was named the No. 59 player in the country, while sophomore running back Royce Freeman was named No. 57.
Here is what writer Matt Brown had to say about his rankings of Buckner:
"Fellow towering defensive end Arik Armstead got more hype, but Buckner may turn out to be even better than his former teammate, who was the 17th pick in the draft. Buckner is 6-foot-7, 290 pounds, making him a perfect fit at end for the Ducks' three-man front, and he's coming off a breakout season in which he recorded 13 tackles for loss."
And his take on Freeman:
"The Ducks offense is all about spreading the field and moving as fast as possible, but Freeman brings another dimension, as a 230-pound back who can attack defenses downhill and between the tackles. That's not to say he lacks speed, either. As a true freshman, Freeman broke out as a perfect complement to Marcus Mariota, rushing 252 times for 1,365 yards and 18 touchdowns."
Brown also mentions that future Oregon QB Vernon Adams may have made the list had he not announced that he would be late to fall camp. Brown has Adams rated as the No. 10 QB in the nation this season.
