Scott Frost felt like it was his time to leave Oregon, accept UCF job

On Tuesday it was announced that Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost had accepted the head coaching job at the University of Central Florida. According to The Oregonian, Frost had told members of the UO program late in the season that he planned to leave, believing that the time was right for him to become a head coach.

"He was sure of it," a source said, per The Oregonian. "It was time to go."

Frost was highly sought after due to his performance as Oregon's offensive coordinator over the past three seasons. Many people, including former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti, believes he has what it takes to succeed. However, nothing is a sure thing.

"You never really know," Bellotti said Tuesday, per The Oregonian. "Certainly what he's done as an offensive coordinator has prepared him to take the next step. Now he's going to find out — we're all going to find out. I think he's got what it takes."

Of the UCF job, Bellotti thought it was a great landing spot for Frost.

"I think it's a great opportunity and actually of the jobs that are out there it's probably one of the better jobs," Bellotti said. "... I don't think people realize how good it can be."
