Sean White expected to be near full strength for the Birmingham Bowl

Looking to avoid a losing season against 9-3 AAC member Memphis, 6-6 Auburn is expecting redshirt freshman quarterback Sean White to be healthy and ready to play if called upon. The first-year quarterback was initially injured Oct. 24 against Arkansas.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn has yet to named the team's starting quarterback for the bowl game, as White continues to battle junior Jeremy Johnson for first-team snaps at quarterback.

"Offensively, both quarterbacks have performed well in practice," Malzahn said. "We've not made a decision on who's going to start. You could see both of them. We should have everybody offensively ready to go."

White has played in six games for the Tigers this season but became severely limited since his injury. The quarterback was forced to wear a knee brace after the injury, which hurt his mobility and pocket movement.

"You know, he's moved around very well," Malzahn said of White. "He moved around well even before the (holiday) break and then we had four days off right there and he's come back. I'm not going to say he's 100 percent but I think he's close."
