Longtime Miami offensive line coach Art Kehoe has been dismissed by the Hurricanes and replaced by former Virginia Tech OL coach, Stacy Searels.

Kehow, a University of Miami Hall of Famer and the only coach with rings from all five of the Hurricanes national championships, reportedly had a three-hour interview with new head coach Mark Richt last week before being released on Sunday.

“I love the University of Miami,’’ Kehoe told the Miami Herald by phone Sunday. “I’m so grateful for all the great memories and great coaches and great players I was able to be around.

“I’m always going to be a Hurricane and I’ll always love the Hurricanes. I would have loved to stay, but I’ve got to move on and take care of my family. I wish Coach Richt and his staff much success… I know he’s going to do a terrific job.’’

Kehoe, a former Miami offensive lineman, had been with the program for a total of 31 years and was even a teammate of Richt, a former Hurricanes' QB, for the 1979-80 seasons.

Kehow will be replaced by Searels, who prior to coaching at Virginia Tech has had stints at Texas, Georgia and LSU.

A former all-American lineman at Auburn, Searels, who played three seasons in the NFL, was on the sideline for LSU from 2003-06, during which time the Tigers won a national championship and a conference title.
