Small Rutgers senior class getting ready for last hurrah as Scarlet Knights
Rutgers football is preparing for its last game of the regular season Saturday with 11 players looking at their last game in Piscataway.
The group includes only two fourth-year seniors -- star receiver Leonte Carroo and kicker Kyle Federico --as well as four fifth-year players in Quentin Gause, Paul James, Keith Lumpkin and Djwany Mera, a sixth-year senior in fullback Sam Bergen and graduate transfers Kaiwan Lewis, Chris Gough, JUCO transfer Joey Roth and walk-on Bryan Stonkus.
"Always a special day," head coach Kyle Flood told reporters in Piscataway this week. "It's an opportunity for our seniors who have contributed so much to your program over the last really one to five years, depending on who you're speaking of, to get one last chance to play at High Point Solutions Stadium in front of the home crowd against a really talented opponent in Maryland, a Big Ten football game."
The players who came in in 2011 have been part of 36 wins while Rutgers has gone 27-23 over the past four seasons.
