Alabama secondary coach Mel Tucker, who is set to become the new defensive coordinator on Kirby Smart's staff at Georgia, has turned down an opportunity to interview for the UTSA head coaching vacancy, a source told FOX Sports.

The 44-year-old Tucker had joined the Tide before this season after a decade in the NFL. He has served as defensive coordinator in Jacksonville, Cleveland and with the Chicago Bears.
