Source: Furman names NC State assistant Kitchings head coach

A source informed SI’s Pete Thamel that Furman will name NC State assistant coach Desmond Kitchings head coach.

Kitchings, a former All-American player at Furman, served as NC State’s assistant head coach for offense, recruiting coordinator and running backs coach.

He had previous stints at Air Force and Vanderbilt, coaching running backs. He coached tight ends and special teams at Furman from 2004–2007.

Furman went 3–8 this season, leading to head coach Bruce Fowler’s resignation in early December.
