Samford offensive coordinator Travis Trickett will become the new offensive coordinator and play-caller at FAU, a source told FOX Sports on Thursday.

Trickett, the son of FSU O-line coach Rick Trickett, has led Samford to the nation's No. 7 offense at 480 yards per game. The Bulldogs are also No. 3 in the country in the FCS in passing yards at 333 per game. The younger Trickett will take over an Owls offense that ranked No. 82 in total offense and No. 105 in yards per play. FAU was 3-9 this season.

The West Virginia grad began his coaching career as a student assistant at West Virginia, working under head coach Rich Rodriguez. Trickett also worked as a grad assistant at Florida State and Alabama.
