Source: Stanford leading tackler Martinez hurts ankle, questionable for Pac-12 title game

Stanford's best player on its defense, linebacker Blake Martinez, injured his ankle this week in practice, a source told FOX Sports on Saturday.

He will try to play in the Pac-12 title game Saturday against USC, but the staff is not optimistic that he'll be able to do so.

Martinez leads the team with 121 tackles -- 72 more than anyone. The 6-foot-2, 245-pound senior is a first-team All-Pac-12 pick and Butkus Award semifinalist. He had 14 tackles in Stanford's win at USC earlier this season.
