Spring game atmosphere helped convince Ohio TE to commit to Michigan State
Still unconvinced spring game attendance matters in recruiting? Think again.
Tight end Noah Davis told MLive.com the atmosphere at Spartan Stadium in April was a factor in his decision to play for Michigan State next year.
"I think it plays a pretty big role because you always want people backing you up, and the biggest part of that is the fans,'' said Davis, a three-star prospect from Cincinnati St. Xavier who picked the Spartans over Boston College and Iowa after visiting East Lansing the weekend of the Green and White Game. "When you hear them cheering and chanting at the spring game, you can just imagine what that's like in a big game against Ohio State or Michigan, you get a feel for it.
"Michigan State had the right feel.''
Davis' words have to bring a smile to the face of MSU coach Mark Dantonio, who called for fans to bring the type of enthusiasm often associated with the basketball team's student section ("the Izzone") to the gridiron.
