Standout Michigan CB confirms his 2016 NFL draft plans

Published Dec. 16, 2015 2:48 p.m. ET

Michigan cornerback Jourdan Lewis had already tweeted it, but for anyone who needed to hear him say whether or not he would enter the NFL draft, he obliged Tuesday.

The All-Big Ten defensive back from Detroit will return for his senior season next year, per the Toledo Blade.

Lewis broke up 19 passes and had two interceptions for a strong Michigan defense in 2015.

His return gives the next Michigan defensive coordinator a talented, veteran player to count on for 2016.

“I’m coming back,” Lewis said. “For my education. I haven’t graduated yet. I was always going to stay.
“It’s my decision. I want my degree. No matter what happens, that was always the plan. No matter if I’m one of the top guys in the draft or not. Football’s not going to last forever. My education will. I thought that was the best move for me.”
