Stanford QB Hogan in doubt for Oregon State game due to 'significant' ankle sprain
Stanford QB Kevin Hogan suffered what is being described as a "significant" ankle sprain in last Saturday's 41-31 win over USC.
Stanford head coach David Shaw said on Monday that Hogan's status for Friday night's game against Oregon State in Corvallis (FS1, 7 p.m.) is in doubt.
While Hogan may not practice this week, Shaw dismissed the idea that Hogan needs to get reps in order to be ready for Oregon State.
"We're not talking about a kid here," Shaw said, according to ESPN. "We're talking about a fifth-year senior that's played a lot of football. We filmed a lot of stuff today in our virtual reality that he'll be able to go through and make sure that he gets those visual reps. I'm not worried about him mentally or emotionally. It's just physically. If he can do it, he'll play. In his mind, he's playing, but we're going to do the smart thing for him medically."
If Hogan were unable to play on Friday, redshirt sophomore Ryan Burns and redshirt freshman Keller Chryst would play for Stanford.
