Stony Brook beats Albany (NY) 20-2

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Conor Bednarski threw for one touchdown, Donald Liotine rushed for 203 yards and another score, and Stony Brook beat in-state rival Albany 20-2 on Saturday to win The Golden Apple trophy.

Bednarski was 18-for-27 for 163 yards passing and an interception. He connected with Ray Bolden on a 3-yard scoring pass in the first quarter. Bolden had career bests with 11 receptions for 112 yards.

Przemyslaw Popek kicked field goals of 31 and 18 yards and the Seawolves led 13-0 at half.

Liotine, who had 31 carries, scored early in the third on a 1-yard run for a 20-0 lead, but Albany later scored a safety, tackling him in the end zone.

Stony Brook (5-5, 3-5 Colonial Athletic Association) outgained Albany 399-160 in total yards.

Neven Sussman was 22-of-25 passing for 82 yards and two interceptions for Albany (3-8, 2-6).
