Strong safety Cotton suffers concussion

Published Aug. 18, 2015 3:59 p.m. ET

Iowa State senior strong safety Darian Cotton suffered a concussion and was unable to participate in the team's first scrimmage over the weekend, according to Iowastatedaily.com.

“We though he was close [to returning] and started some symptoms yesterday with physical activity sort of prolonged his returned,” Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads said to The Daily.

Cotton is second on the team's depth chart at strong safety behind Qujuan Floyd. Cotton played in 12 games last season and had 27 tackles.
