Study concludes Rutgers should invest in facilities upgrades
Should Rutgers upgrade its athletics facilities? A New Jersey lawmaker says yes.
Via NJ.com, state Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D-Union), a Rutgers graduate and season-ticket holder, commissioned a study that concluded the economic impact is worth the investment.
The website obtained a draft of Lesniak's study ahead of its public release and reports Lesniak would like to see the Scarlet Knights' facilities upgraded to put them on more equal footing with their new Big Ten rivals, particularly the Rutgers Athletics Center, home to the school's basketball teams.
"I'm hoping for a RAC that is upgraded and has the kinds of amenities that are not there now,'' Lesniak told NJ.com. "I'm hoping for a practice facility for all sports, upgraded football facilities, locker rooms and the kind of 'wow factor' that when our coaches go to recruit, they can point to as a positive rather than what currently exists in a lot of the facilities that are being used right now.''
