Suspended Clemson WR Cain enrolled this semester
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) Clemson's suspended receiver Deon Cain has enrolled in classes, apparently choosing to remain with the program after getting sent home from the Orange Bowl for violating team rules.
Cain, a freshman, was among three players along with kicker Ammon Lakip and backup tight end Jay Jay McCullough were suspended from the postseason. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney and other school officials would only say the three broke rules of the program, citing privacy rules.
Football spokesman Tim Bourret confirmed in a text Sunday that Cain began classes this week for the spring semester. Swinney said Cain would have a chance to rejoin the team next year.
Cain had 34 catches and five touchdowns as he became Clemson's primary downfield threat late in the season.
