Syracuse QB Hunt denied sixth year of eligibility
The tantalizing college career of Syracuse quarterback Terrel Hunt officially come to an end on Monday when the Orange dual-threat QB was denied a sixth-year of eligibility by the NCAA.
It was the second time the injury-riddled Hunt had his request for eligibility denied. The QB’s first attempt came during the fall and was not granted. Seeking a different outcome, Hunt appealed but could not score another season at Syracuse.
Hunt, who attempted only two passes in 2015 before suffering a torn Achillies tendon in the season opener, also missed a bulk of the 2014 season with a broken leg.
In order to be granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA a player must compete in less than 30 percent of the scheduled games in a year, which means that Hunt would have been eligible for one if he had broken his leg in the fourth game of the 2014 season instead of the fifth.
The 6-3, 238-pound Hunt showed promise during his time at Syracuse and finished his career with 2,621 passing yards, 794 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns.
