Tailgating Music for the A&M Game

I think there’s one thing we can all agree on – 11 AM kickoffs are less than ideal.

Mississippi State has its third 11 AM home game kickoff of the 2016 season against Texas A&M. Such is life in the SEC when you sell your soul to TV contracts and your team is having a bad year, but I guess no one complains at the end of the year when that big revenue sharing check rolls in.

Still, the11 AM kickoff provides a number of challenges to tailgaters, the main one being that you have to get up at dawn to begin your tailgate set up. I don’t know about you, but I need my music to be a bit on the laid back side that early in the morning.

So this week’s playlist features music that’s a bit calmer than my previous playlists. Also, I’ve included a few songs that pay homage to Tuesday’s Presidential election. There’s “Middle of the Road” by the Pretenders for those of you who like to stay politically neutral. Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” is there for those of you dreaming of one for your candidate. And Patsy Cline’s “Crazy” is included for…well let’s not go there today.

Our visitors from A&M are honored by the presence of “that little ol’ band from Texas”, ZZ Top, with “My Head’s In Mississippi” and I even include a nod to the drought and burn ban that’s currently in place with Blind Melon’s “No Rain.”
