TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin issued an apology on his Twitter account Thursday evening, expressing remorse for his arrest early Thursday morning and subsequent suspension from Saturday's Alamo Bowl.

"Words can't describe how sorry I am. I truly let down my family, teammates and the TCU and Fort Worth communities who have supported me so much," the 22-year-old began. "I have no excuses for my very poor decision, and I'm embarrassed about it.

"My teammates are my brothers," Boykin continued. "There's nothing I wanted to do more than play one last game with my fellow seniors."

Boykin, a one-time Heisman Trophy contender, was allegedly heckled at a bar and became contentious, ultimately being subdued by police. He faces a felony charge for assault of a police officer.
