TD pass gives Abilene Christian 21-17 win over SE Louisiana

ABILENE, Texas (AP) Parker McKenzie threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Jamie Walker on fourth down with 22 seconds remaining to give Abilene Christian a 21-17 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.

Starting at their own 20, the Wildcats drove down the field in 18 plays, using 7:46 of the clock. McKenzie and Walker combined on a fourth-down pass for 11 yards to keep the drive going.

The Lions led 17-7 after D'Shaie Londor's 15-yard pass to Chris Briggs on the first play of the fourth quarter. The Wildcats took the kickoff and went 75 yards in five plays, including completions of 31 and 14 yards before McKenzie threw 14 yards to Monte Green-Avery to cut the deficit to 17-14.

The Wildcats (3-7, 3-6 Southland) snapped a six-game losing streak while the Lions (5-5, 3-5) lost their third straight.

McKenzie was 21 of 28 for 219 yards and had an interception.

Charlotte running back Kalif Phillips, who ranked third in Conference USA in rushing, was injured after just three carries in the first quarter and did not return.
